Urbis is inviting students from across the Young Practitioners Network to apply for its paid Engagement Student Internship Program—a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in Stakeholder and Community Engagement while completing university studies.

Running annually from February to December, the internship program is designed to be flexible around study commitments. From day one, interns work on meaningful projects that shape cities, places and communities—building hands-on skills in engagement strategy, communications, facilitation and co-design.

Interns are embedded in a passionate, values-led team where creativity, collaboration and community connection drive everything they do. Many past interns have progressed into permanent roles and senior positions at Urbis.

Who should apply?
Urbis is looking for final-year students with a background or interest in:

  • Communications, Public Relations or Media

  • Social Sciences, Community Development or Human Services

  • Political Science or Public Policy

Why apply?

  • Gain project experience with real community impact

  • Learn from leading Engagement professionals

  • Build your network in a growing sector

  • Enjoy flexible working to suit study needs

  • Join a team shaping the future of cities and communities

📢 Applications are now open via the Urbis website.

Applications close 31 July 2025.

If your network is interested in a tailored session about engagement careers, Urbis would be happy to connect and share insights on pathways into the field.

Let’s support the next generation of changemakers.
