The Engagement Institute is proud to be part of the upcoming Big Deliberative Debrief — a dedicated event for Victorian councils to reflect on their recent deliberative engagement experiences.

If your council has been grappling with the complexities of deliberative engagement, you’re not alone. Having just navigated these processes to inform the Community Vision, Council Plan and other long-term strategies — many are now asking: what worked, what didn’t, and how can we do it better next time?

At the Big Deliberative Debrief, you’ll gain insights not just from the expert panel — including the Engagement Institute, MosaicLab, MAV, and the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance — but from the collective wisdom of your peers. This is your opportunity to connect with peers across the state, share lessons, and hone your practice before 2028 rolls around.

The day-long event will include:

• Case studies, data and insights from recent deliberative processes across Victorian councils
• Practical workshops to capture ideas and actions for improving deliberative engagement
• An expert panel and Q&A to dig deeper into what’s working and what’s not

It’s all happening on Tuesday, 27 August at Collingwood Town Hall, thanks to the support of the City of Yarra.
