Leading the Conversation at LGPro 2025

At the LGPro Annual Conference 2025, Engagement Institute Chair Tony Clark joined a panel of sector leaders to explore how local government can embed engagement strategically across the organisation.

The session, “Integrated Engagement: The Key to Community Trust”, brought together Amy Hubbard (Capire), Shawn Neilsen (Banyule City Council), and Emanuela Savini (University of Canberra) to discuss the evolving role of engagement in supporting good governance, service delivery, and long-term public trust.

Together, the panel unpacked the practicalities and imperatives of embedding engagement across planning, policy, compliance and service functions—highlighting its role as both a technical discipline and a strategic enabler.

As expectations around community participation continue to rise, integrated engagement is fast becoming essential to how local government leads, responds, and delivers.
